Reviving & Upgrading the Layman School
The Homu Layman Training School, established in 1984, has long been a vital institution dedicated to developing church leadership within the Seventh-day Adventist community in the Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission. Focused on equipping lay members with essential skills in preaching, church administration, and outreach, the school played a crucial role in strengthening the spiritual and organizational capacity of our church.
In 1985, Pastor Peter Knopper took the helm, spearheading the school's development and significantly enhancing its effectiveness in training many leaders until his untimely passing in 1988. Despite subsequent efforts, the school struggled to regain its former momentum and eventually closed in 2004.
Now, we are committed to reviving this important institution, incorporating additional skills training and establishing a technical center to better serve our community. We look forward to reopening the Homu Layman Training School for enrollment in 2027, to continue fostering capable leaders for the growth and mission of the church.
