"Sharing Christ, Building Community, Inspiring Hope in Homu District"

The first Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) missionary contact in Eastern Highlands Province, particularly in Homu Village, marked a significant milestone in the region's religious history. The SDA Church's missionary efforts in Papua New Guinea began in the early 20th century, focusing on remote and underserved areas to spread their message of faith, health, and education.

District Directors' History

Mission

Our mission is to revive and expand the Layman Training School by 2027, equipping church leaders and the community with technical, leadership, and evangelism skills. We aim to continue Pr. Knopper's work of soul-winning, community service, and faith-building.

History and Legacy

Over time, this contact led to the growth of the SDA community in Homu Village, with churches, schools, and health facilities being established to serve the local population. The missionaries' efforts contributed to both spiritual and social development in the area, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and community service.

Vision

To build a thriving Layman Training School that empowers church leaders and communities with technical, leadership, and evangelism skills, carrying forward Pastor Knopper’s legacy of soul-winning, service, and faith by 2027 and beyond.

In the case of Homu Village, the contact likely occurred several decades ago, when SDA missionaries first arrived to establish a presence and share their teachings. These early missionaries faced challenging terrain and cultural differences but worked diligently through community engagement, health programs, and education initiatives to build trust and develop a supportive relationship with the villagers.
