District Directors' History
The arrival of the first Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) missionaries in the Eastern Highlands Province, particularly in Homu Village- marked a pivotal moment in the region’s religious history. The SDA Church’s missionary work in Papua New Guinea began in the early 20th century, with a strong focus on reaching remote and underserved communities through a message of faith, health, and education.
In Homu Village, this initial contact likely occurred several decades ago, when missionaries established a presence and began sharing their teachings. Despite the challenges of rugged terrain and cultural differences, they persevered through community engagement, health programs, and educational initiatives. Their dedication fostered trust and built meaningful relationships with the villagers.
Over time, these efforts led to the establishment of a vibrant SDA community in Homu Village. Churches, schools, and health facilities were developed to serve the local population, contributing to both spiritual growth and social progress. The legacy of these early missionaries endures today, reflected in the ongoing commitment to faith, education, and community service.
